HAI KU has recorded her original music at the prolific Village studios in Hollywood, with owner Jeff Greenberg and Sound Engineer Matt Dyson, and recorded her single, “All I’ve Had” with Emmy-nominated producer and songwriter Dan Mackenzie. The young singer-songwriter has written, published, and performed over a hundred original songs.
Working commercially as a freelance songwriter, HAI KU’s original songs on the platform Thematic have garnered over thirty million views and have been used in thousands of public YouTube videos all over the world.
Having performed regularly as a singer-songwriter at a multitude of venues including the late Bootleg Theater, 626 Night Market, and art galleries/pop-ups, she is actively booking shows in Los Angeles.
She writes and records original music for professional projects: examples include Cannes Indie Shorts Best Horror Short "Who Goes There" (from Emmy-nominated “Yo Gabba Gabba” director Matt Fackrell) and Purple Mattress’ 5-Year-Anniversary commercial, featuring 30 seconds of original song “On the Edge of The Earth.”
At Berklee College of Music, HAI KU learned how to conceptualize and market artists by means of merchandise, tour-planning, pitching to radio stations, media planning, and more. She deepened her knowledge of Logic Pro and learned how to utilize and customize digital instruments, implement modulation, mixing and mastering, and other production essentials. In arts boarding school, she received an annual merit scholarship to study literature, and received the Scholastic Silver Key Award in the Short Story category. Majoring in Creative Writing, she has workshopped under the advisement of dozens of established novelists, poets, and screenwriters.
